Olympus WI-SRE3 2 Position Nosepiece

The Olympus WI-SRE3 is a swing-out 2-position revolving nosepiece designed for the Olympus BX51WI and BX61WI upright water immersion microscopes. Unlike conventional rotating nosepieces, the WI-SRE3 uses a front-to-back swing motion to change between the two objective positions — the slim, compact design of the swing arm moves objectives in and out of the optical path without sweeping laterally across the specimen area. This is essential in electrophysiology and live cell setups where patch pipettes, recording electrodes, perfusion tubes, and micromanipulators are positioned close to the specimen — a conventional rotating nosepiece would collide with this equipment during objective changes, but the WI-SRE3's swing motion clears all surrounding hardware safely. Objective positioning incorporates a vibration-free counter spring mechanism that ensures smooth, stable seating of each objective without introducing mechanical vibration that could disturb a gigaohm seal, dislodge a patch pipette, or move the specimen. The nosepiece accepts standard RMS thread objectives and is compatible with the WI-DIC prism system for transmitted light DIC on BX51WI and BX61WI platforms.
