Every inspected item we sell is covered by a 1-year warranty against defects.
That covers used, refurbished, and new items alike — unless a listing is explicitly marked "as-is," in which case it is sold without warranty and priced accordingly.
What the warranty covers
If an item fails to perform to its specification within one year of delivery due to a defect — optical (haze, delamination, separation, fungus present at shipment) or mechanical (iris, correction collar, threads, focus mechanisms) — we will repair it, replace it with an equivalent unit, or refund your purchase, at our option and at no cost to you, including return shipping on approved warranty claims.
What it doesn't cover
Damage from drops or impact after delivery, immersion or cleaning with inappropriate solvents, disassembly or modification, and normal cosmetic wear on used items as described and photographed in the listing.
Why we can offer this on used optics
Every objective and component is inspected before it ships from our Rochester facility: barrel and threads checked, glass examined for fungus, haze, and separation, and mechanical functions verified. When we grade an item "Excellent," we've looked through it — not just at it. The warranty exists because the inspection lets us stand behind it.
Returns (non-defective)
Changed your mind, or the item doesn't fit your setup? You may return any item in the condition you received it within 15 days of delivery for a refund. A restocking fee may apply depending on the item; if one applies, we'll state it when we issue your return authorization, before you ship anything back. Return shipping on non-defective returns is the buyer's responsibility, and we recommend insuring the shipment for full value.

How to make a claim or return
Email tim@spachoptics.com or call (866) 486-6791 with your order number and a brief description of the issue — photos help and usually speed things up. We respond within one business day and will issue return instructions and an authorization. Please don't ship anything back without one.
Institutional buyers
We accept university and government purchase orders, and warranty terms apply identically to PO and net-terms purchases.
