The Olympus U-TLU is a single port tube lens unit for Olympus CX, BX, and IX series microscopes, enabling a C-mount camera to be connected directly to the microscope body without requiring a trinocular or binocular observation head. The U-TLU attaches to the microscope in place of the observation head, providing a single camera output port with an integrated 180mm focal length tube lens — the correct tube lens focal length for the Olympus UIS2 infinity-corrected optical system used in BX and IX series microscopes. This makes the U-TLU ideal for dedicated camera-only microscope configurations where eyepiece observation is not required — for example, automated imaging systems, machine vision setups, or camera-only documentation stations where a full observation head would be unnecessary. The U-TLU accepts all standard Olympus C-mount camera adapters including the 0.35x, 0.5x, 0.63x, and 1x reduction/unity adapters, allowing the field of view and magnification on the camera sensor to be optimized for the application.
