Olympus U-SRE Dual Objective Nosepiece

The Olympus U-SRE is a swing-out dual (2-position) objective nosepiece for Olympus BX series upright microscopes. Unlike conventional rotating nosepieces, the U-SRE uses a front-to-back swing motion to change between the two objective positions — the slim, compact design of the swing arm moves objectives in and out of the optical path without sweeping laterally across the specimen area. This is essential in electrophysiology, micromanipulation, and live cell setups where patch pipettes, recording electrodes, perfusion tubes, and micromanipulators are positioned close to the specimen — a conventional rotating nosepiece would collide with this equipment during objective changes, but the U-SRE's swing motion clears all surrounding hardware safely. Objective positioning incorporates a vibration-free counter spring mechanism that ensures smooth, stable seating of each objective without introducing mechanical vibration that could disturb a gigaohm seal, dislodge a patch pipette, or move the specimen. The nosepiece accepts standard RMS thread objectives and is compatible with the BX series DIC and polarized light accessory systems.
