Olympus U-SP Plain Stage with no Mechanical Movement

The Olympus U-SP is a plain fixed stage for Olympus BX series upright microscopes, providing a flat specimen platform without built-in mechanical XY translation controls. Unlike the U-SVRB-4 (right-hand) or U-SVLB-2 (left-hand) mechanical stages, the U-SP has no integrated XY movement mechanism — the specimen is placed directly on the stage surface and moved manually or via an externally mounted stage system. The U-SP is the correct base stage for BX series microscopes being configured with a third-party motorized or encoded XY stage — the flat, unobstructed stage surface provides a clean mounting platform for aftermarket motorized stage systems from Prior, Ludl, Marzhauser, and other manufacturers. It is also suitable for applications where manual specimen positioning is sufficient and a mechanical stage is not required, or where a custom specimen holder or fixture will be mounted directly on the stage.
