Olympus U-DIC60 DIC Nomarski Prism for U-UCD8 Universal Condenser

The Olympus U-DIC60 is a transmitted light Nomarski DIC prism specifically matched to 60x objectives for use in the Olympus Universal Condenser. In DIC microscopy, the condenser prism must be precisely matched to the objective magnification and NA to produce the correct wavefront shear for optimal contrast — the U-DIC60 is the correct prism for 60x objectives including the UPlanFLN 60x, UPlanSApo 60x, and PlanApo N 60x. When paired with the appropriate objective-side DIC slider and polarizers, the U-DIC60 enables full transmitted light DIC imaging, producing the characteristic pseudo-three-dimensional contrast that reveals membrane boundaries, organelles, cytoskeletal structures, and fine detail in unstained living or fixed specimens. The 60x magnification range is particularly valuable for high-resolution live-cell imaging where the balance between field of view and resolving power is critical.
