The Olympus U-DIC20 is a transmitted light Nomarski DIC prism specifically matched to 20x objectives for use in the Olympus U-UCD8 Universal Condenser. In DIC microscopy, the condenser prism must be precisely matched to the objective magnification and NA to produce the correct wavefront shear for optimal contrast — the U-DIC20 is the correct prism for 20x objectives in this condenser system. When paired with the appropriate objective-side DIC slider and polarizers, the U-DIC20 enables full transmitted light DIC imaging, producing the characteristic pseudo-three-dimensional contrast that reveals tissue architecture, cell groupings, and structural features in unstained living or fixed specimens.
