Olympus U-DIC100 DIC prism for U-UCD8 Universal Condenser

The Olympus U-DIC100 is a transmitted light Nomarski DIC prism specifically matched to 100x oil immersion objectives for use in the Olympus U-UCD8 Universal Condenser. In DIC microscopy, the condenser prism must be precisely matched to the objective magnification and NA to produce the correct wavefront shear for optimal contrast — the U-DIC100 is the correct prism for 100x objectives in this condenser system. When paired with the appropriate objective-side DIC prism (slider) and polarizers, the U-DIC100 enables full transmitted light DIC imaging, producing the characteristic pseudo-three-dimensional contrast that reveals membrane boundaries, organelles, and fine structural detail in unstained living or fixed specimens. The U-UCD8 Universal Condenser accepts a range of DIC prisms for different objective magnifications, and the U-DIC100 is the high-magnification prism in this set.
