Product Overview

The Olympus SZX2-CPO is the polarization plate cartridge designed exclusively for the SZX2-ILLTQ transmitted illumination base. When used in conjunction with a polarizing analyzer on the SZX2 body, this cartridge introduces linearly polarized light into the transmitted illumination path — enabling polarized light stereo microscopy without a dedicated polarizing microscope. Polarized transmitted light is essential for identifying and characterizing birefringent materials: specimens that rotate the plane of polarization appear bright against a dark background, revealing crystalline structure, fiber orientation, stress patterns, and other optically anisotropic features that are invisible under conventional illumination. Installation is tool-free: the cartridge drops directly into the SZX2-ILLTQ cartridge port and can be swapped with other SZX2 contrast cartridges in seconds. Built to Olympus factory specifications, the SZX2-CPO ensures consistent optical performance and a guaranteed fit with no realignment required.
