Product Overview

The Olympus LUMFL N 60X Water Dipping Objective (N2667900-DEMO) is a high-performance biological objective designed for deep tissue fluorescence imaging and electrophysiology in living brain slices and tissue preparations. This demo unit has been previously used for demonstration purposes but has been tested and verified to deliver full optical performance equivalent to new units.

The 60× magnification and 1.10 numerical aperture provide exceptional resolution and light-gathering capability, enabling visualization of fine cellular structures, dendritic spines, and subcellular compartments in living neurons. The ultra-high 1.10 NA is among the highest available for water dipping objectives, providing outstanding performance for fluorescence imaging, two-photon microscopy, and IR-DIC applications.

The 1.5mm working distance provides clearance for deep tissue penetration while accommodating patch pipettes, stimulation electrodes, and other experimental tools. The dipping design allows the objective to be lowered directly into the recording chamber, with the front lens element immersed in the physiological saline bathing the tissue.

The correction collar is a precision adjustment mechanism that optimizes optical performance for variations in tissue preparation, chamber depth, and optical path length. This adjustment is particularly valuable in brain slice imaging where tissue thickness and mounting conditions can vary between experiments.

The LUMFL N (Long-distance Universal Medium Fluorite) optical design incorporates semi-apochromat (fluorite) glass elements that provide excellent chromatic aberration correction across a broad wavelength range. This correction is essential for multi-color fluorescence imaging and for IR-DIC imaging combined with visible fluorescence.

This objective is compatible with Olympus BX (upright) series microscopes, the standard platform for electrophysiology and brain slice imaging. The RMS thread mount ensures compatibility with standard microscope nosepieces.

This unit is a demo unit that has been previously used for demonstration purposes. It has been tested and verified to deliver full optical performance. Demo units offer excellent value for laboratories seeking high-performance objectives at reduced cost.

Water Immersion vs Water Dipping
Water Dipping (Long Working Distance)

No coverslip required
Long working distance (1–10 mm+)
Best for:
Brain slices
Thick tissue
Electrophysiology
Water Immersion (Coverslip-Based)

Used with standard slides + coverslips
Higher NA (e.g., UPLANSAPO 60X NA 1.20)
Best for:
Fluorescence
Confocal
Live-cell imaging
