Olympus IX2-AN Analyzer Slider

The Olympus IX2-AN is an analyzer slider designed for the IX2 series inverted microscopes. It slides into the optical path above the objective to serve as the upper polarizing element for transmitted light polarization microscopy. On inverted microscopes, polarized light microscopy is commonly used for DIC imaging of live cells in culture dishes and multi-well plates, as well as birefringence observation of transparent specimens. The slider mechanism allows quick insertion and removal, enabling fast switching between polarized light and standard brightfield or fluorescence observation. When paired with a compatible polarizer below the condenser, the IX2-AN creates a complete crossed-polarizer system for the IX2 platform.
