🔧 System Description

The Olympus BX60 Fluorescence Microscope is a complete professional imaging system designed for advanced biological research, clinical diagnostics, and multi-color fluorescence applications. This turnkey system combines Olympus's proven BX60 upright microscope platform with high-performance mercury arc fluorescence illumination, a comprehensive objective set, and advanced imaging capabilities—ready for immediate deployment in research laboratories, clinical facilities, and educational institutions.

The Olympus BX60 is a professional upright research microscope featuring the UIS (Universal Infinity System) optical design that delivers exceptional image quality, flat-field performance, and chromatic correction across the visible spectrum. The infinity-corrected optical path enables integration of fluorescence illuminators, DIC optics, polarization accessories, and camera systems without introducing optical aberrations. The BX60 platform is renowned for its robust construction, optical excellence, and modular expandability.

The 100-watt mercury arc lamp fluorescence system provides high-intensity broad-spectrum illumination optimized for multi-color fluorescence imaging. Mercury arc lamps deliver intense output across UV and visible wavelengths with characteristic emission peaks that efficiently excite common fluorophores including DAPI, FITC, GFP, TRITC, Texas Red, Cy3, Cy5, and others. The 100W power level provides bright, stable illumination suitable for both visual observation and digital imaging of fluorescent specimens.

The fluorescence illuminator with rotatable front and cube turret enables rapid switching between fluorescence channels without disturbing the specimen. The rotatable front design allows the illuminator to be positioned for optimal ergonomics and workflow. The cube turret accommodates multiple filter sets for multi-color imaging applications, enabling sequential imaging of different fluorophores in the same specimen.

The 3-position trinocular head provides exceptional flexibility for visual observation and digital imaging:

  • 100% Eyepieces — All light directed to eyepieces for visual observation
  • 100% Camera — All light directed to camera port for maximum imaging sensitivity
  • Split Beam — Light divided between eyepieces and camera for simultaneous viewing and imaging
This versatility enables operators to optimize the system for visual screening, digital documentation, or interactive imaging workflows.

The 10× widefield adjustable eyepieces provide comfortable viewing with adjustable diopter compensation to accommodate individual eyesight differences between operators. Widefield eyepieces deliver a larger field of view compared to standard eyepieces, improving specimen survey efficiency and reducing the need for stage repositioning.

The complete 5-objective set provides comprehensive magnification coverage:

  • UPlanFL 4× — Low-magnification survey and specimen location
  • UPlanFL 10× — General-purpose observation and fluorescence imaging
  • UPlanFL 20× — Medium-magnification cellular imaging
  • UPlanFL 40× — High-resolution cellular and subcellular imaging
  • UPlanFL 100× Oil Immersion — Maximum resolution for fine cellular details and chromosome analysis
The UPlanFL (Universal Plan Fluorite) objectives provide excellent chromatic correction and flat-field performance optimized for fluorescence imaging.

The 12V 100W transmitted light lamphouse provides bright, even illumination for brightfield, phase contrast, and DIC imaging. The Abbe-type condenser delivers proper Köhler illumination for optimal image quality and resolution.

The 6-position nosepiece accommodates the complete objective set plus one additional position for specialized objectives or leaving one position empty for workflow convenience. The right-handed mechanical X-Y stage with slider holder provides precise specimen positioning and smooth, ergonomic operation.
