Product Overview

The Olympus BH2 is one of the most respected research-grade microscope platforms ever produced, and this configuration combines reflected and transmitted light polarized light capability with brightfield and darkfield contrast in a single, versatile system. The BH2-UMA reflected light illuminator enables brightfield and darkfield reflected light observation of opaque and polished specimens. Four Neo SPlan BD objectives — 5x, 10x, 20x, and 50x — provide flat-field, high-contrast imaging across the full magnification range in both reflected and transmitted light modes. The complete polarized light optical train includes a UPO rotatable polarizer for reflected light, a U-POT drop-in polarizer for transmitted light, and a rotatable analyzer unit with Bertrand lens — enabling both orthoscopic and conoscopic polarized light observation in both illumination modes. The Bertrand lens enables direct observation of interference figures for optical axis determination and crystal system identification. The first-order red full wave plate enables interference color and retardation analysis. The 360° rotating stage enables precise extinction angle measurement and crystal orientation analysis. The 10x eyepieces — one adjustable with crosshair reticle — support precise measurement and alignment. Ships complete with power cord, dust cover, and instruction manual.
