Product Overview

The Olympus BH2-5BD is a 5-position brightfield/darkfield revolving nosepiece for Olympus BH2, BHT, BHS, and BHM series upright microscopes. Unlike a standard nosepiece, the BH2-5BD is designed to support both brightfield (BF) and darkfield (DF) reflected or transmitted light illumination modes at each objective position — allowing the operator to switch between BF and DF contrast without changing objectives or nosepieces. In brightfield mode, directly reflected or transmitted light is collected for standard specimen observation. In darkfield mode, the direct beam is blocked and only obliquely scattered light is collected, revealing surface defects, grain boundaries, fine topographic features, and unstained specimens with high contrast against a dark background. The BH2-5BD is the correct OEM brightfield/darkfield nosepiece for the BH2 series platform — an essential replacement or upgrade component for researchers and institutions maintaining BH2, BHT, BHS, or BHM microscopes in active BF/DF service.
