Technical help

The Mitutoyo LCD Plan Apo NIR 50× Objective (t0.7) is a specialized near-infrared and SWIR optimized plan apochromat objective from Mitutoyo’s LCD Plan Apo NIR series — delivering 50× magnification with a 17mm working distance, 480–1800nm spectral range, and optical correction specifically designed for imaging through a 0.7mm thick cover glass or flat panel substrate. The t0.7 designation indicates this objective is corrected for the standard 0.7mm glass thickness used in LCD and flat panel display substrates, making it the definitive choice for high-magnification NIR/SWIR inspection of LCD panels, OLED displays, and other flat panel devices through their standard glass substrates.

  • 🖥️ Corrected for 0.7mm cover glass (t0.7) — specifically optimized for the standard 0.7mm glass substrate thickness used in LCD panels, OLED displays, and flat panel devices; eliminates the spherical aberration introduced by the glass layer that would degrade image quality with standard (non-cover-glass-corrected) objectives
  • 🔦 NIR/SWIR spectral range: 480–1800nm — transmission extending to 1800nm enables high-magnification LCD panel inspection at NIR wavelengths, InGaAs camera imaging through panel glass, SWIR fluorescence, and Raman spectroscopy with long-wavelength excitation lasers
  • 📏 Long working distance: 17mm — exceptional clearance for a 50× objective, providing ample room for large panel specimens, inspection fixtures, and environmental control hardware
  • 🔬 NA 0.42 at 50× — practical numerical aperture for a long working distance NIR/SWIR objective, delivering good resolution for high-magnification panel defect inspection, pixel-level analysis, and Raman mapping
  • 🌟 Plan apochromat correction — Mitutoyo’s highest level of chromatic and spherical aberration correction for accurate, flat-field imaging across the full 480–1800nm spectral range through the 0.7mm glass layer
  • ♾️ Infinity-corrected, M26 thread — compatible with Mitutoyo FS series microscopes and other infinity-corrected systems with M26 nosepieces
  • 🇯🇵 Mitutoyo quality, made in Japan — precision optical construction for consistent, high-efficiency NIR/SWIR transmission and long service life
  • Catalog number 378-829-16

🔧 Product Description

The Mitutoyo LCD Plan Apo NIR 50× t0.7 (378-829-16) is a purpose-built objective for high-magnification NIR/SWIR inspection of LCD panels, OLED displays, and flat panel devices through their standard 0.7mm glass substrates. The t0.7 designation specifies that this objective is optically corrected for a 0.7mm cover glass thickness — the industry-standard substrate thickness for LCD and flat panel display glass. When imaging through a glass layer, uncorrected objectives introduce spherical aberration that degrades resolution and contrast; the LCD Plan Apo NIR t0.7 eliminates this aberration by incorporating the 0.7mm glass layer into its optical design, delivering optimal performance specifically for this substrate thickness. The 480–1800nm spectral range enables NIR and SWIR imaging through the panel glass, including inspection at NIR wavelengths where certain panel defects, electrode structures, and backplane features are more clearly revealed than in visible light, as well as InGaAs camera imaging and Raman spectroscopy with NIR/SWIR excitation lasers. The 17mm working distance provides practical clearance for large panel specimens and inspection fixtures. For uncovered specimens at 50× NIR/SWIR, see the M Plan Apo NIR 50× series (378-825-17 or 378-863-5 HR). For the same LCD correction at 20×, see the LCD Plan Apo NIR 20× (378-827-16). Compatible with Mitutoyo FS series microscopes and other infinity-corrected systems with M26 thread nosepieces. Catalog number 378-829-16.

🔎 Typical Applications

  • High-magnification LCD and flat panel display inspection at NIR/SWIR wavelengths through 0.7mm glass substrates
  • OLED display defect inspection and pixel-level analysis through standard panel glass
  • InGaAs camera imaging through 0.7mm panel glass requiring SWIR transmission to 1800nm
  • Raman spectroscopy mapping through panel glass with NIR/SWIR excitation lasers at 50×
  • Backplane and electrode structure inspection at NIR wavelengths through flat panel substrates
  • Any high-magnification NIR/SWIR application requiring correction for 0.7mm cover glass thickness
