The Leica PL Fluotar 100x/1.30 Oil Iris is a premium fluorite oil immersion objective with a built-in iris diaphragm for Leica infinity-corrected microscopes, delivering 1.30 NA at 100x magnification with the flexibility to reduce NA for darkfield, oblique illumination, and improved depth of field — one of the most versatile high-magnification objectives in the Leica biological lineup.

KEY FEATURES

  • 100x / 1.30 NA oil immersion fluorite — high NA for maximum resolution and fluorescence light collection at 100x
  • Built-in iris diaphragm — adjustable NA for darkfield imaging, oblique contrast, and depth of field control without changing objectives
  • PL Fluotar (fluorite) correction — superior chromatic and spherical aberration correction for sharp, high-contrast brightfield and fluorescence images
  • Infinity corrected, M25 thread — fits all Leica infinity-corrected upright and inverted microscopes with M25 objective thread
  • Excellent condition, flawless optics — inspected and verified, part no. 506009, made in Germany

Product Overview

The Leica PL Fluotar 100x/1.30 Oil Iris is a fluorite-corrected oil immersion objective with a built-in iris diaphragm — a feature that sets it apart from standard fixed-NA 100x objectives. The iris allows the user to continuously adjust the effective NA of the objective from the maximum 1.30 down to lower values, enabling the same objective to be used for multiple contrast techniques without a nosepiece change. At full aperture (NA 1.30), the objective delivers maximum resolving power and fluorescence light collection for high-resolution brightfield and fluorescence imaging. Stopping down the iris reduces the NA, which can be used to generate darkfield contrast, oblique illumination effects, or increased depth of field for thick or uneven specimens — techniques that would otherwise require a separate darkfield condenser or objective. The PL Fluotar fluorite optical design provides significantly better chromatic and spherical aberration correction than standard achromat objectives, producing sharper images with improved contrast and color fidelity across the visible spectrum. The M25 infinity-corrected thread mount fits all Leica upright and inverted microscopes in the Leica infinity-corrected system. Supplied as a genuine Leica OEM objective (part no. 506009) manufactured in Germany in excellent condition with flawless optics.
