Technical help

The Olympus UPLAPO 100× HR TIRF Plan Apochromat Oil Immersion Objective (NA 1.50) is one of the first plan-corrected apochromat objectives to achieve NA 1.50 with standard oil immersion — delivering the maximum numerical aperture available in the Olympus biological objective lineup for total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF), single-molecule imaging, and super-resolution microscopy applications demanding the highest possible resolution and evanescent field confinement.

  • 🔬 NA 1.50 — maximum available NA in oil immersion — one of the first plan-corrected apochromat objectives to reach NA 1.50, enabling the tightest evanescent field confinement for TIRF and the highest resolution for single-molecule and super-resolution imaging
  • 🌟 TIRF-optimized plan apochromat correction — flat-field super apochromat correction across the visible spectrum for accurate multi-channel co-localization in TIRF, PALM, STORM, and dSTORM workflows
  • 💡 Outstanding fluorescence light throughput — high NA maximizes photon collection efficiency, critical for single-molecule detection and low-signal fluorescence imaging
  • 📍 Field number 22 — wide field of view for 100× magnification, enabling efficient single-molecule and TIRF imaging across a large area
  • ♾️ Infinity-corrected, RMS thread — compatible with Olympus BX, CX, and IX series microscopes
  • 🇯🇵 Olympus quality, made in Japan — precision optical construction for consistent, high-efficiency light transmission and long service life
  • New — part number N5701700

🔧 Product Description

The Olympus UPLAPO 100× HR TIRF is a landmark objective in the Olympus lineup — one of the first plan-corrected apochromat objectives to achieve NA 1.50 with standard oil immersion, setting a new benchmark for evanescent field confinement and resolution in TIRF microscopy. At NA 1.50, the evanescent field penetration depth in TIRF is minimized to its theoretical limit, providing the tightest possible optical sectioning at the coverslip surface for single-molecule detection, membrane dynamics, and receptor-ligand interaction studies where background fluorescence from out-of-focus molecules must be completely eliminated. The plan apochromat correction ensures flat-field imaging with accurate chromatic registration across all fluorescence channels — essential for multi-color TIRF co-localization, PALM, STORM, and dSTORM super-resolution workflows where chromatic shift between channels would compromise localization accuracy. The high NA also maximizes photon collection efficiency, directly improving signal-to-noise ratio for single-molecule detection and enabling shorter exposure times in live-cell single-molecule tracking experiments. Compatible with Olympus BX, CX, and IX series microscopes. Supplied new from stock, part number N5701700.

🔎 Typical Applications

  • Total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy at maximum evanescent field confinement
  • Single-molecule detection and live-cell single-molecule tracking
  • Super-resolution microscopy: PALM, STORM, dSTORM, and PAINT
  • Membrane dynamics, receptor-ligand interactions, and cell adhesion studies
  • Multi-color TIRF co-localization requiring plan apochromat correction
  • High-content single-molecule fluorescence imaging requiring maximum photon collection
