The Olympus U-LDPW20H is a Nomarski DIC prism designed specifically for use with 20× long working distance (LWD) objectives on Olympus BX series microscopes. In transmitted light DIC, the Nomarski prism splits the illuminating beam into two slightly laterally displaced beams that pass through the specimen and recombine to produce interference contrast revealing optical path gradients. Each DIC prism is matched to a specific objective type and magnification to ensure optimal beam shear and DIC contrast. The U-LDPW20H is calibrated for 20× LWD objectives, commonly used for lower-magnification DIC imaging of specimens in culture dishes, multi-well plates, and other containers requiring extended working distance.
