It installs in the cube turret of the IX2-RFAC or IX2-RFACA reflected light attachment, positioning the analyzer in the transmitted light path for DIC observation. In transmitted light DIC, the analyzer works in conjunction with the polarizer and Nomarski prism to convert optical path differences in the specimen into amplitude (contrast) differences in the image — revealing fine structural details, cell boundaries, organelles, and surface topography in unstained or lightly stained specimens with high contrast and a characteristic pseudo-3D relief appearance. The IX2-MDICT provides the analyzer component of the transmitted light DIC optical train on IX series inverted microscopes, and is the correct OEM cube for this function in the IX2-RFAC\/IX2-RFACA system. It is an essential replacement or spare component for laboratories running transmitted light DIC on IX51, IX71, or IX81 inverted microscope platforms.
